Dr. Avin obtained his undergraduate degree from the University of Delaware in Newark, Delaware.  He received his medical degree from the Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia.   He completed a Residency in General Surgery at the University of Washington in Seattle, Washington.  Dr. Avin completed a Fellowship in Surgical Oncology at the University of Toronto,in Toronto, Canada.

Dr. Avin practices General Surgery and specializes in Surgical Oncology – particularly surgery for the liver, biliary tract and pancreas; thyroid and parathyroid glands; and melanoma.  He is Board Certified in General Surgery by The American Board of Surgery.

Dr. Avin is an active member of the Department of Surgery at Boca Raton Regional Hospital, and Delray Medical Center.   He is a member of the Society of Surgical Oncology, and the American College of Surgeons

Dr. Avin is fluent in English, Spanish, and Hebrew.
